on

During this month, every weekend is full of Holiday Parties, and this year, the ASU Devils Den happily and merrily brings back its “Holiday Party 12 Pack of Plays”. These are the top 12 plays from the Arizona State season that you can enjoy talking about over delicious holiday cocktails with friends and family. The “Holiday Party 12 Pack of Plays” will count down from Play #12 to our Play #1 as voted on by the ASU Devils Den team.

Previous:

Play #12 – Brown’s One Handed Interception
Play #11 – Smallwood’s Strip Sack
Play #10 – Deandre Scott’s Forced Fumble
Play #9 – Randall Interception Return Touchdown
Plays #8 & #7 – Hardison’s Interceptions

Play #6

For the Arizona State Sun Devils, a late October game in Seattle against the Washington Huskies featured high velocity, satellite-feed interrupting winds and a Husky defense with Danny Shelton and Hau’oli Kikaha, two All-Americans, and Marcus Peters, a projected top NFL Draft pick prior to his dismissal from the program. With quarterback Taylor Kelly returning from injury, the Sun Devil offense was sputtering up and down the field, but with three minutes left in the game, the Sun Devils found themselves with a 17-10 lead. The Huskies received the ball and were into Sun Devil territory after three plays. After a Sun Devil sack and a Husky holding call, the game was on the line with a 4th and 25 for the Huskies offense, and 2014’s Holiday Party 12 pack of Plays: Play #6 took place:

True freshman nickel cornerback Armand Perry stepped up in between two Husky receivers for the interceptions and returned it 61 yards for the Sun Devil touchdown clinching a victory on the road. Even if the ball was on target to the Husky receiver, Perry had his coverage in order to make a tackle in front of the first down marker. The ability to win on the road is a trait among top college football programs, and a true freshman showed solid technique in his coverage and made the necessary play to clinch a win and keep the Sun Devils Pac-12 South title hopes alive.

Of the seven plays on our list so far, this is fourth big play from a member of the 2014 recruiting class. Not to mention, the plays up to this point have been six defensive playsand one special teams play.
