2014 Signing: Manny Wilkins

on

After not signing a quarterback in 2012, and Josh Dobbs backing out at the last minute and heading to Tennessee in 2013, head coach Todd Graham and offensive coordinator Mike Norvell have signed two possible future Sun Devil quarterbacks. The first is Manny Wilkins, who is 6’3″, 185 pounds, and from San Marin High School in Novato, California.

Wilkins is one of the top 15 quarterbacks in the 2014 class, according to Scout.com and top 20 quarterbacks in according to Rivals.com. Wilkins was part of the final 18 quarterbacks competing for the final national Elite 11, and he was invited to be a Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl Game quarterback. In his high school career, Wilkins has shown great mobility and the ability to throw strongly on the run. Wilkins has a strong arm that can make the deep throws while holding a nice, tight spiral. Wilkins and his quick feet were on display during the final Elite 11 camp. With his physical tool set, it is easy to visualize Manny Wilkins leading the Arizona State offense. However, the quarterback position is the hardest to evaluate and the hardest to project.

Off the field, once Wilkins verbally committed to Arizona State, there was an added bonus. Wilkins started to recruit other high school stars to attend Arizona State. Wilkins has reached out to players near his home in Northern California along with players across the country he meets at High School All-Star events. His personal leadership skills and ability to get along with others cannot be undervalued.
