ASU Pro Day Preview

on

Former members of ASU football lore will be performing for NFL coaches, scouts, and management on Friday for the school’s annual Pro Day.  Twelve members of the Devils defense and seven members from the offense will be up close and personal in their final round of testing before individual interviews take place leading up to the 2014 NFL Draft that takes place May 8 – 10 in New York.

After an average showing by the likes of Will Sutton and Carl Bradford at the NFL Combine last month, Friday will represent the chance of the two, not to mention a healthier Marion Grice to show in-person what their production of the field has exhibited over the past two seasons under the leadership of head football coach Todd Graham.  Pro Day numbers aren’t always the most reliable, but the combine numbers of former Devils help set the standard.  Will there be a Sun Devil that nears the 37 reps on the bench that Victor Leyva put up back in 2001 in Indianapolis?  Can the work-out warrior Bradford out-jump the 45″ mark former Devils defensive back Chris McKenzie set the gold standard for back in the long jump measurements at the 2005 combine (McKenzie it should also be noted ran a 4.32 during that same day).

While ASU Pro Day is closed to the public you can get a closer look at a few of the Devils stand-out performers from 2014 thanks to the video work of our friends at Draft Breakdown.  Re-live performances dating back some three seasons before NFL teams come calling.

Among those in the 2013 Sun Devil senior class also joining the field of potential Sun Devil draftees mentioned above on the offensive side of the ball will be the wide receiver Kevin Ozier and Darwin Rogers.  On the defensive side of the ball also performing for NFL personnel will be defensive linemen Davon Coleman, Gannon Conway, and Jake Sheffield.  Starting linebackers Steffon Martin, Anthony Jones, as well as special teams star Grandville Taylor will join cornerback Osahan Irabor and safety Marlon Pollard to round out the list of draft eligible Devils

Joining the field of NFL prospects will be former Sun Devils from yesteryear in wide recievers Derek Hagan and Mike Willie, linebacker Robert James, and defensive backs Ryan McFoy, LeQuan Lewis, and Justin Tryon as they hope to grab the eye of the same NFL personel just as NFL free agency kicks off.
