ASU vs UC-Davis
48 – 14  Win

The season started with an average to solid victory over UC-Davis on the Thursday before Labor Day.  Jamal Miles shined with 188 all purpose yards, highlighted by a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to start the 2nd half.  Vontaze Burfict registered 3 sacks and the offense ran for 217 yards.  However, stud true freshman safety Ezequiel Bishop was lost for the season with an ACL tear and starting RT Aderious Simmons suffered a severely sprained ankle which had him out for a month.

ASU vs Missouri
37 – 30 (OT)  Win

Next, the Black Out against Mizzou was a major high for the program:  Friday night, national television, sold out Sun Devil Stadium, and an overtime victory.  The nation caught “The Pflu” as senior WR Aaron Pflugrad had 8 catches for 180 yards and 2 TDs.  Colin Parker led the defense with 10 solid tackles all over the field.

ASU at Illinois
17 – 14  Loss

A huge swing in momentum as an extremely poor performance at Illinois led to the first loss of the season.  QB Brock Osweiler was sacked six times as the offense could never get started.   The Sun Devil defense lost Junior Onyeali for at least six weeks due to a torn meniscus in his left knee.  Numerous poor penalties haunted both sides of the balls as there were offensive drive killer penalties and defensive drive extender penalties.

43- 22  Win

Just when fans were having flashbacks to the 2010 season, the Sun Devils play a complete game and defeat the Men from Troy.  This game was the first victory for the Sun Devils over the Trojans in 11 years.  Another nice crowd in Tempe – 61,495 – saw Cameron Marshall score on a 70-yard TD run to start the game, but USC came back to take a 1-point lead in the 3rd quarter.  However, the Sun Devil defense stepped up harder this game, forcing 4 Trojan turnovers, and Osweiler quickly and calmly iced the game with a solid TD drive in the 4th quarter.
