Todd Graham’s 4th Signing Day

on

February 4, 2015 was a key date for the Arizona State football program under head Coach Todd Graham. This date marked the signing of Graham’s fourth recruiting class in Tempe, Arizona. Now, the over-whelming majority of the team consists of players Graham’s staff evaluated, offered, and signed. The success of this staff will be tied to the success of his own players and not the ones recruited by the previous staff.

Initial Thoughts

  • Video highlights for all 2015 recruits can be found on our 2015 Recruiting Page.
  • As of blog publishing, the 2015 Arizona State recruiting class finishes 19th nationally and 3rd in the Pac-12, per Scout, 20th nationally, 5th in Pac-12, per Rivals, and 26th nationally, 4th in Pac-12, per ESPN.
  • There could be some late additions to this class with the three open spots, or the Arizona State coaching staff could choose to hold those spots for class of 2016 prospects who could enroll mid school year.
  • Ten members of the 2015 recruiting class were rated a four star recruit with at least one of the four recruiting services.
  • The Sun Devils continue to go national as high school prospects were signed from the states of Virginia, Tennessee, Texas, and Louisiana along with Arizona and California.
  • WR Coach DelVaughn Alexander has started to build up a pipeline into Southern California. Arizona State signed prospects from three of the top high school football programs as CB Stanley Norman comes from Junipero Serra, DL Joseph Wicker comes from Long Beach Poly, and OL Zach Robertson comes from St. John Bosco. It is extremely difficult to recruit against USC and UCLA in their own backyard, but with so much top West Coast football talent in that area, the Sun Devils need Alexander to continue to grab a handful of top prospects at those top high school football programs.
  • With the signing of DL George Lea, the Sun Devils have added a defensive lineman from Perry Walker High School in New Orleans in each of the past three classes. Emanuel Dayries (2014) and in Corey Smith (2013) joined the Sun Devil football program.
  • Even though the Sun Devils have not signed a wide receiver, which could change, the Sun Devils did sign two in-line tight ends, Epps and Hudson, and two H-back tight ends, Lewis and Wilson. Now, Deputy Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator Mike Norvell has depth at those positions, and the Sun Devil offense could see different formations with multiple tight ends next season.
  • In his Signing Day press conference, head coach Todd Graham continuously mentioned the importance of recruiting depth in the trenches. The Sun Devils signed five offensive linemen and three defensive linemen. The eight linemen add tremendous size and potential critical to the success of each position group.
  • Examining our Sun Devil Roster by Class page, positions of emphasis for the 2016 would be WR, RB, S, and OL.
