Washington State vs. Arizona State – November 22nd, 2014

Arizona State Head Coach Todd Graham said it best when describing his team’s play in the second half, “We dominated them!”

No. 13 Arizona State defeated Washington State at Sun Devil Stadium Saturday afternoon 52-31 on Senior Day.

Below is a look at a brief quarter breakdown and final statistics:

1st Quarter Notes:

  • ASU’s offense came out to a very slow start, only getting 2 first downs.
  • On both sides of the ball, ASU did not look solid fundamentally.
  • ASU’s Taylor Kelly was sacked 4 times in the quarter.
  • Total Yards: WSU – 129, ASU – 39
  • WSU lead ASU 7-0 at the end of the 1st quarter

2nd Quarter Notes:

  • ASU on offense and defense began to click late.
  • ASU’s secondary struggled with pass coverage.
  • To this point, ASU was 0-6 on 3rd downs.
  • WSU lead ASU 24-21 at the end of the 2nd quarter.

3rd Quarter Notes:

  • Defense came out in full force and began to bring pressure.
  • Penalties hurt ASU with several defensive offside calls.
  • ASU lead WSU 28-24 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

4th Quarter Notes:

  • ASU’s defense dominated in the second half, getting several turnovers.
  • Taylor Kelly became the all-time leader for ASU with points responsible for and career touchdowns.
  • ASU beat WSU 52-31.
